The number one detriment to an athlete’s meal/fueling program is snacking and hydration at home. As a chef for performance athletes, often overlooked by the athlete’s is snacking and hydration habits developed off the field. They are often destined for failure due to inadequate training and coaching in the art of grocery shopping, meal planning and snacks for their home. An athletes environmental, demographic and economic upbringing weighs heavily as to the impact of what is being purchased for the athlete’s home kitchen. Teaching players how to select groceries and stock their home kitchens with better nutritional choices, and foods that will promote muscle recovery is the right path towards year-round health.
